2026 and there is no better time to register for Athletics. Whether you have known us as Little Athletics or just Athletics, Katoomba Athletics has been delivering all forms of the sport for over 50 years!
Pitt Park is undergoing some generational changes to the facilities which ensure we have the best athletics field in the Blue Mountains. Drainage and earthworks have been completed in 2025 and a new Clubhouse will start construction in 2026.
Katoomba Athletics is affiliated with NSW Athletics. This allows us to provide a full athletics experience irrespective of your needs or skill. We provide a full participation model for athletes aged 3 years old to Masters, where competition is held at Pitt Park each week. Our focus is family, fitness and fun across all events.
We offer a full program of running, jumping and throwing events using the approved age-appropriate rules and specifications for athletes aged 3 - 12 that we have always offered as Little Athletics, and then modified rules and specifications for older athletes aligned with Australian and World Athletics rules.
Beyond Pitt Park, our Athletics NSW affiliation provides the opportunity for athletes of all capabilities to access all NSW Athletics delivered events on an opt in basis. This includes Zone and Region Championships, NSW Combined events, Milers meets and NSW Country Championships during the season.
A season registration fee plus event entry fees apply. Your registration at Katoomba Athletics provides:
- 12 months membership to NSW Athletics
- A fun and inclusive family environment
- A 21-week summer competition season on Saturday mornings at Pitt Park
- Club coaching
- Access to a full range of events run by NSW Athletics events e.g. Zone and Region* Championships, Combined events, specialist events, NSW Country Championships. Separate fees apply.

Our first competition day for the season will be mid-September, and we'll be running through until March 2027 (with a short break over Christmas). Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates.
* Athletes qualify through to Region and State championships based on the rules set out by NSW Athletics
Our summer season for 2026-27 starts on 19 September 2026.
Construction of the new clubhouse and facilities has begun but it won't interfere with our weekly competition of training. We'll actually be able to see the building progress each week!
We're starting the season with two weeks of skills clinics for old and new athletes, parents and budding officials before we start the competition programs in October.
Registrations are still open! Come along, have fun, learn news skills and make new friends at athletics!

Major improvement works have commenced as part of the Pitt Park Lower Oval Recovery Drainage Project which will significantly enhance the oval’s resilience and usability year-round, supporting athletics, school sport, and broader community use.
What’s included in the upgrade?
• Engineered drainage and new irrigation systems
• Oval contouring and laser levelling
• Complete reseeding of the grass surface
• Expansion to an 8-lane track to support regional and state competitions
Timeline: The oval is currently closed, with completion expected by September 2025. In the event of weather-related delays, the Council will work with us to secure an alternate competition venue to ensure the 2025–26 season proceeds.
Note for dog walkers: Please use the South Lawson Off-Leash area or refer to Council’s website for 14 other available off-leash spaces during this time.
This project is co-funded by: NSW Government’s Essential Community Sport Assets Program (ECSAP) and NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant (WSIG).
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to a vastly improved Pitt Park.
